Welcome to the March issue of CODAmagazine, where we share the best design + art projects from all over the world. We’re an online community for artists, design professionals, and industry resources to showcase their work, collaborate with one another, and find the creative resources they need for future projects.
Some might think of walls as confining, but at CODAworx we envision a world
where walls are portals and mirrors to dreams and aspirations. Artists and designers are taking the fundamental building block of our structural environment and turning the walls of our spaces into rich and amazing canvases for art. CODAmagazine documents this trend; we have selected 25 evocative projects that are certain to delight.
From a Prada store in New York City, USA to a mesmerizing digital wall in Kitzbuhel, Austria, you can find an amazing collection of projects in this month’s issue. Inés Esnal is the genius responsible for Prism, perhaps my favorite in what is a stellar assortment of artwork spanning mediums. I find Prism so transformative because of how many different ways it makes an impact on the space it is in. Using a series of ropes in different shades near a concrete wall with skylights, Esnal (who was also a 2019 CODAwards Merit Winner) draws attention to form, depth, and light all at once. The effect is radical, totally changing the look of a lobby area that without the work, resembles a bunker.
The CODAmagazine editorial staff was surprised by the large number of submissions we received for this issue. It means people are busy making or rethinking the walls of the world, and that determination inspires us. To our community: Thank you for reading, working on, and sharing with others these excellent projects!
