Welcome to the May issue of CODAmagazine, where we share the best design + art projects from all over the world. We’re an online community for artists, design professionals, and industry resources to showcase their work, collaborate with one another, and find the creative resources they need for future projects.
At our offices we’ve been thinking about this month’s CODAmagazine theme, Experiential & Interactive. The 22 projects in this issue are differentiated in a very special way - the creators have added an extra layer (or layers) to the artwork projects, inviting the art appreciator to become an active participant in the artmaking process. One example that I absolutely love this month is illumaphonium - an amusing combination of musical instrument and light show in the United Kingdom.
Experiential and interactive art is not some trend that will pass and fade: it is here to stay. We are no longer passive observers; we are drawn to art that we can engage with on multiple levels, art that changes just as we do, and art which creates a fun atmosphere where people gather to share a moment or two in a novel way!
I truly believe that when we examine the work of experiential and interactive artists, we are only glimpsing part of the exciting future of inspiring technology and art creations. Every CODAmagazine issue, every CODAsummit, and every CODAawards cycle shows me how fast this sector of the art world is moving, especially because there is a hunger for more creative revolution in our world.
