Welcome to the August issue of CODAmagazine, where we share the best design + art projects from all over the world. We’re an online community for artists, design professionals, and industry resources to showcase their work, collaborate with one another, and find the creative resources they need for future projects.

As we look forward to CODAsummit: San Jose this October 4-6 in the influential Silicon Valley, the impact of technology in shaping our lives in just the last two decades is close to magic. Lots of CODAsummit attendees, CODAmagazine readers, and public art lovers know: technology has helped and continues to help creatives around the globe realize their magical projects at a rapid pace. The ever-evolving uses and developments of technology in public art are, to me, some of the most fun to follow.

Projects in France, Singapore, and Taiwan, as well as in cities from Los Angeles to Philadelphia, can be found in this issue. Access to brilliant and more affordable technology has increased in recent years, empowering clever art makers to come up with imaginative, interactive, or innovative applications which can entertain, spark reflection, or create new aesthetic experiences.

Many commissioners also understand how technology can bring people together and be part of dynamic, memorable projects. It would also be remiss not to note how important of a year it has been for artificial intelligence and experimentation with AI-powered tools. One thing is certain: the future of public art and technology will continue to be closely connected!
