Overview
All Together Now provides a new identity to the Intermodal Station Parking Garage in Rhode Island, transforming the utilitarian building into a memorable event. The iconic image and inspirational message are woven together and become one for the viewer to forever associate with his or her memory of Warwick. The multicolor screen facade introduces an exception in the urban landscape adding a note of color and joy to the utilitarian building.
Goals
The screen moderates the horizontality of the garage and the polychromatic approach diminishes the repetitive quality of the structure. The perception and visual density of All Together Now oscillates depending on the viewers point of view adding a dynamic aspect to the project in contrast with the static garage structure. Approaching the garage from the airport connector the multicolored screen uncovers a message of hope: All Together Now to display the aspiration of the City of Warwick of building a better future for all. All Together Now is built with "off the shelves" light weight aluminum tubes of various diameters, separated from and attached to the existing construction with a steel structure. The project adds minimum weight to the existing structure and responds to code ventilation garage requirements.
