Overview
Stained Glass Window Scheme – approximately 20 square metres. In screen printed ceramic enamel and digitally printed glass.
The side windows are 3.2 metres high X 700 mm wide. The main front window is 2.5 metres high X 1.75 metres wide.
Goals
The project was initiated by the congregation to invite a more diverse cross section of the public into the church. The imagery draws on the local landscape on the south coast of England. Based on the seasons and local landscape of the South Downs, Cuckmere River, Seaford head and the Seven Sisters Cliffs.
Process
Screen printed ceramic enamel and sandblasting on acid-glass for the front window and digital printing for the side lancet windows.
Additional Information
Since the church has opened the feedback from the congregation has been overwhelming. The introduction of the stained glass has transformed the church from a very plain and empty space into a warm and welcoming place for contemplation and reflection. The transformation has inspired many new activities and functions for the building including, mindfulness, healing, mental health, meditation and Yoga classes for groups of multi or no faith. It has become a welcoming beacon for everyone.
