Overview
I was selected to install Frequency & The Voyage Framed Video Installation in lobby of GALLERYone Hotel. I intentionally had the digital video installation designed in a timeless imported Italian frame. I wanted the traditional, gilded gold frame to contrast with the modern technology.
Goals
Robert Keesler, General Manager, an art enthusiast, was at an art fair during Art Basel week in Miami. He viewed my framed video installation, which was on exhibition at the fair. Being innovative and visionary, Mr. Keesler wanted an art video installation for the hotel lobby. The video installation would add an interactive sensory experience to the art at GALLERYone being displayed in the lobby. The video installations, with the moving images & haunting audio, bring the viewer into another world of imagination.
Process
The core of my work has always been about “connection”; the innate connection to the self, each other, and to all other life forms on this planet. We are not separate from nature & the infinite universe. Both my video installations for this project convey this message. I filmed all the footage for each of the videos, and then worked with Artist Mary Tidy-Coyle in the studio on the editing, along with my dog Bengi. Mary and I had the idea for the framed digital installation art piece. I have known Robert Keesler, General Manager, GALLERYone Hotel over several years, & love to collaborate with him. It was very exciting, on opening night of the installation, to see all the hotel guests intrigued with the videos.
