Overview

Oliver Lewis Way Bridge Project

Public Art Commission for Lexington Kentucky for the Oliver Lewis Way Bridge, a major thoroughfare connecting the New Distillery District, and the University of Kentucky. The dimensions of this expansive bridge are 215′ in length, by 105′ wide and 38′ in height. I created and installed six sculptures adorning the bridge and rising over 38′ into the sky. These sculptures are iridescent and with brilliant colors that radiate when the passing sun shines on them. They are illuminated in the evening with RGB/Light Emitting Diodes, circulating through the spectrum in a brilliant fashion. This installation acts as a beacon of hope at this busy crossing, welcoming the viewer to this newly revitalized area, while speaking to Lexington’s rich cultural past.

Goals

Place sculptures on all six concrete pedestals, activating the Oliver Lewis Way Bridge. This installation acts as a beacon of hope at this busy crossing, welcoming the viewer to this newly revitalized area, while speaking to Lexington's rich cultural past.
