Overview
I was selected to showcase Simulacra, a Video Installation, for Miami New Media Festival XIV Edition. The curatorial theme for this 2019 International video & site specific video art installations event was “Identity, Art & Technology.” Various events & exhibitions were held in Miami at outdoor & indoor installations including downtown Doral/Florida, Doral Contemporary Art Museum & Laundromat Art Space Gallery/Miami, Museum of Contemporary Art/Rome/Italy, Aruba, Caracas/Venezuela, & Bogota/Columbia.
Goals
How we define ourselves has deep roots in our communities, and Arts Connection Foundation wanted to know and share these stories. My video installation, Simulacra, is a reflection, an imitation, of who we have become in this social media age. As observer and narrator of the film, I became another one of the subjects in this social commentary on our filtered reality.
Process
I collaborated with the team at Miami New Media, Arts Connection Foundation and Doral Contemporary Art Museum, where Simulacra was installed in outdoor & indoor art installations.
